Crafted in Istanbul from mid-20th-century vintage silk velvet, this one-of-a-kind low-top sneaker brings the electric romance of Boğazkesen Caddesı to life, where historic Ottoman grandeur meets modern bohemian spirit. Luminous RED/BLUE/MULTI tones interweave across a soft, light-catching silk pile, beautifully framed by rich Turkish leather trim and a cushioned white rubber cupsole. Because every panel is hand-cut from a singular vintage carpet, no two pairs will ever share the exact same arrangement of hues—giving you a truly unrepeatable, limited-edition piece of wearable art.

Boğazkesen Caddesi — The Creative Soul of Istanbul

If there is one street that captures the creative spirit of Istanbul, it is Boğazkesen Caddesi. Running through the Cihangir neighborhood of Beyoğlu, this lively street brings together the old and the new, the traditional and the unexpected. It is one of my favorite places in the city to discover independent designers, artisanal shops, and the everyday traditions that make Istanbul so special.

Here, old neighborhood börek shops sit alongside young leather designers, antique rug dealers, handmade clothing boutiques, and independent businesses run by people who have a genuine passion for what they do. Local Turkish cuisine shares the street with European-style bistros, creating a mix of cultures and flavors that feels uniquely Istanbul.

One of my favorite discoveries is a local simit depot, where fresh batches of simit — the sesame-crusted Turkish bread often compared to a bagel — are baked hour after hour for vendors across the city. While most of the production supplies street sellers, lucky locals can sometimes buy their simit straight from the source. There is something wonderful about enjoying a freshly baked piece of one of Türkiye’s most beloved foods right where it is made.

But Boğazkesen has another side, one that offers a welcome escape from the busy streets. Tucked away nearby is the historic Saint-Joseph French Orphanage, a former institution whose grounds offer a peaceful place to pause. With gardens and a coffee shop, it is a wonderful spot to step away from the traffic and noise without ever really leaving the city. It is one of those hidden places that reminds you how much Istanbul has to offer beyond its famous landmarks.

This is also a special place in my everyday life. The gardens are a favorite destination for my three dogs, and we walk there often because it is so close to home. Our visits have become part of my own neighborhood routine, a reminder that discovering a city is just as much about the places you return to as the places you visit for the first time.

And if you happen to walk along Boğazkesen Caddesi, bring a little cat food with you. You may find as many as twenty friendly neighborhood strays waiting for affection, a snack, or simply a moment of attention. In Istanbul, even an ordinary walk can turn into an opportunity to make a few new friends.

What makes this street so inspiring to me is its authenticity. It is creative without trying too hard, traditional without standing still, and full of small businesses that give the neighborhood its personality. Every shop has something different to offer, from handmade leather goods to vintage textiles and one-of-a-kind designs.

That is exactly what I want The Streets of Istanbul to represent. Like Boğazkesen Caddesi, our sneakers bring together different influences, unexpected combinations, and individual character. They are inspired by a city where craftsmanship is everywhere, if you know where to look.

Boğazkesen is more than a street to me. It is my neighborhood, my daily inspiration, and a reminder that the best of Istanbul is often found just around the corner.

The upper is cut from a handwoven silk velvet carpet. Silk velvet is one of the most prized textiles in Turkish weaving. Its dense silk pile catches the light with a natural luster, feels exceptionally soft to the touch, and deepens in character with age. Carpets like this were made to be treasured, and each one represents hours of skilled handwork.

Our artisans cut every panel by hand, placing each piece to showcase the rug's best design and protect the integrity of the vintage material. Because every carpet is different, and every shoe comes from a different section of it, no two pairs will ever be the same. Yours is truly one of a kind.

THE PROCESS

Frequently Asked *Questions*

How do I know what size to order?

We recommend measuring your foot and comparing your measurement with our SIZE GUIDE before placing your order. For the most accurate fit, measure both feet and use the measurement of your larger foot when selecting your size.

If you are unsure between two sizes, our customer service team is happy to help you determine the best fit.

What is your return policy?

Each pair is handmade and numbered. Returns, exchanges and refunds are not accepted for ordering the wrong size.

Can I exchange my shoes for a different size?

Due to the exclusive and handcrafted nature of our collection, all international sales are final.

We cannot accept returns or exchanges due to a change of mind or sizing issues. Please review our size guide carefully before completing your purchase. Please pay special attention to each shoe model's sizing on the product page.

In the event of an error on our part—such as receiving an incorrect item, color, or size—please contact us as soon as possible. We will work with you to resolve the issue at no additional cost.

How will I know what pattern I will get?

You will not know until it arrives, and that is part of it. Each pair is cut from a handwoven Anatolian carpet, and the carpet decides the pattern, so we do not show or choose it ahead of time. Every pair is different, and none will ever be made again. Because each pair is one of one, all sales are final.

When the carpet ends, the run ends.

What is Anatolian velvet silk?

A luxurious textile inspired by the rich weaving traditions of Anatolia, combining the luminous character of silk with the plush depth of velvet. Each textile possesses its own distinctive variations in color, texture, and pattern—making every pair uniquely individual.
