| THE CRAFT |

Centuries of skill. One pair at a time.

01/ Why Turkish Craft

Türkiye has been producing some of the world's finest handwoven carpets for centuries. The craft is alive here. Passed between generations, practiced daily, rooted in Anatolian culture and history in a way that cannot be imported or approximated.

Istanbul Trading Company was built on that foundation. We transform authentic Turkish silk velvet rugs and kilim carpets into handcrafted footwear. Each pair carries the artistry of its origin.

Every pair of shoes lets its owner carry a piece of Turkish heritage.

Each step is immersed in history."

Transforming an ancient art form into wearable fashion is not a simple thing. It requires understanding what the material is, where it came from, and what it can become without losing what made it worth preserving in the first place. That is the work Istanbul Trading Company is doing.

02/ Where It Comes From

We source all our carpets directly from the Anatolian region of Türkiye, a crossroads of civilizations for thousands of years. We work with two materials: silk velvet rugs, luminous and dense, and kilims, flat-woven with bold geometric patterns. Both are authentic. Neither is a substitute.

03/ How It Is Made

Each pair of handcrafted Turkish shoes is built through a deliberate four-step process. Every decision is made by hand.

1
SOURCING
Silk velvet rugs and kilims are selected individually from the Anatolian region. Not every carpet qualifies.
2
YIELD ASSESSMENT
Each carpet is measured to determine how many pairs it can produce. The number is set by the carpet, not a production target.
3
CUTTING AND SHAPING
Craftspeople cut and shape each pair by hand. Pattern placement is deliberate. No two pairs from the same carpet are identical.
4
FINISHING
Each pair is inspected by the same hands that built it before it leaves the atelier.
04/ The Material

No two sections of the same carpet are identical.

The variation in a handwoven carpet is not a flaw. It is the record of the weaver's hand. When we cut a shoe from that material, that variation becomes the shoe. The pattern on your pair exists nowhere else.

05/ The Artisan

Every person who makes this possible shares in what it becomes.

Fair compensation, genuine respect, and a work environment that reflects the care that goes into the product. From carpet supplier to finished pair, this is a community. Not a supply chain.
