Crafted in Istanbul from mid-20th-century vintage silk velvet, this one-of-a-kind low-top sneaker brings the electric romance of Gedık Paşa Caddesı to life, where historic Ottoman grandeur meets modern bohemian spirit. Luminous RED/BLUE/MULTI tones interweave across a soft, light-catching silk pile, beautifully framed by rich Turkish leather trim and a cushioned white rubber cupsole. Because every panel is hand-cut from a singular vintage carpet, no two pairs will ever share the exact same arrangement of hues—giving you a truly unrepeatable, limited-edition piece of wearable art.

Gedik Paşa Caddesi — Where Craftsmanship Becomes One of a Kind

Gedik Paşa Caddesi is part of the historic heart of Istanbul’s leather trade, a neighborhood shaped by generations of leatherworkers, workshops, and skilled artisans. Here, the scent of leather fills the air, hand tools echo through working spaces, and hides in rich shades of burgundy, deep blue, warm brown, and black await their next transformation. It is a place where craftsmanship is not simply a tradition remembered, but a living part of everyday life.

For me, this street is much more than a source of inspiration. I spend a great deal of time here because it is at the heart of how we bring our footwear collections to life. Our manufacturing facilities, office, and depot are all located just steps away. This neighborhood is where ideas become tangible, materials are selected, and the details that define each shoe begin to come together.

One of the most interesting parts of our process is the way we combine vintage carpet textiles with carefully selected leather. Each carpet we work with typically yields only six to fifteen pairs of sneakers. Because every textile has its own colors, patterns, and dimensions, we cannot simply order 100s of identical meters of leather and repeat the same production process. Instead, we select the right leather color for each carpet, searching for the perfect match to complement its character.

Our small production runs also allow us to approach materials differently. Larger industrial manufacturers often have leather remnants left over from producing thousands of shoes. Pieces that may be too small for their next large production run can be exactly what we need. We search for these remnants in the right colors and textures, giving beautiful materials another purpose.

What was once part of a production run of a thousand shoes might become the finishing detail for a small collection of handcrafted sneakers. A limited piece of leather, overlooked by a larger manufacturer, can become a treasure in our hands.

This approach is not just about making smaller quantities. It is about seeing potential where others might see leftovers, choosing materials with intention, and allowing each carpet and leather combination to guide the final design. No two production runs are quite alike, and the limitations of working with unique materials often become the very things that make our shoes special.

Gedik Paşa represents the hands-on side of The Streets of Istanbul. It reminds me that behind every finished product are countless decisions, skilled workers, carefully chosen materials, and a neighborhood with a long history of making things by hand.

For me, the beauty of this street lies in its practicality as much as its heritage. This is where I work, where I source materials, and where the creative vision meets the realities of production. It is a daily reminder that thoughtful design does not always begin with something new; sometimes it begins with discovering the extraordinary potential of something already in existence.

In Gedik Paşa, even the smallest piece of leather can become part of a bigger story. We believe the best craftsmanship is not about producing more, but about making something meaningful with what we have.

The upper is cut from a handwoven silk velvet carpet. Silk velvet is one of the most prized textiles in Turkish weaving. Its dense silk pile catches the light with a natural luster, feels exceptionally soft to the touch, and deepens in character with age. Carpets like this were made to be treasured, and each one represents hours of skilled handwork.

Our artisans cut every panel by hand, placing each piece to showcase the rug's best design and protect the integrity of the vintage material. Because every carpet is different, and every shoe comes from a different section of it, no two pairs will ever be the same. Yours is truly one of a kind.

THE PROCESS

Frequently Asked *Questions*

How do I know what size to order?

We recommend measuring your foot and comparing your measurement with our SIZE GUIDE before placing your order. For the most accurate fit, measure both feet and use the measurement of your larger foot when selecting your size.

If you are unsure between two sizes, our customer service team is happy to help you determine the best fit.

What is your return policy?

Each pair is handmade and numbered. Returns, exchanges and refunds are not accepted for ordering the wrong size.

Can I exchange my shoes for a different size?

Due to the exclusive and handcrafted nature of our collection, all international sales are final.

We cannot accept returns or exchanges due to a change of mind or sizing issues. Please review our size guide carefully before completing your purchase. Please pay special attention to each shoe model's sizing on the product page.

In the event of an error on our part—such as receiving an incorrect item, color, or size—please contact us as soon as possible. We will work with you to resolve the issue at no additional cost.

How will I know what pattern I will get?

You will not know until it arrives, and that is part of it. Each pair is cut from a handwoven Anatolian carpet, and the carpet decides the pattern, so we do not show or choose it ahead of time. Every pair is different, and none will ever be made again. Because each pair is one of one, all sales are final.

When the carpet ends, the run ends.

What is Anatolian velvet silk?

A luxurious textile inspired by the rich weaving traditions of Anatolia, combining the luminous character of silk with the plush depth of velvet. Each textile possesses its own distinctive variations in color, texture, and pattern—making every pair uniquely individual.
